Messages That Went Beyond NCAA South

As the program officially opened, UB President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn warmly welcomed the delegates and reminded everyone about the true purpose of NCAA South. “In every game, we have seen not only determination and talent but also genuine sportsmanship. We have witnessed athletes supporting one another, learning from both victories and defeats, and forming friendships that go beyond the competition. These are the moments that truly matter, and the values they carry will stay with them long after this season has ended.”

Listening to her speech while surrounded by cheering athletes and proud supporters made the moment even more meaningful. It reminded everyone that sports are not only about competition; they are also about building character and lasting connections.

The atmosphere became even more exciting during the recognition and awarding ceremonies. Members of the Management Committee received certificates for their dedication and hard work throughout the season. Soon after, the spotlight turned to the student-athletes as teams and individuals were recognized for their outstanding performances.

Every applause inside the hall carried stories of sacrifice, training, and perseverance. Watching the athletes celebrate their victories with their teammates was inspiring. Some smiled proudly while others became emotional as they reflected on their journey throughout the season.

Another memorable part of the ceremony was the message delivered by the Board of Regents Chairman Atty. Jesus V. Mayo. He spoke about overcoming challenges and becoming stronger through difficult experiences. His words perfectly captured the spirit of NCAA South Season 27 — resilience, determination, and growth.

“Batid po namin ang mga pinagdaanan ng bawat isang kalahok dito sa NCAA South. But we also know that what doesn’t kill us will continue to strengthen each of us.”

As the ceremony neared its end, the symbolic lowering of the Management Committee and Policy Board flags marked the official closing of the season. Although the event concluded with a sense of finality, there was also excitement for what lies ahead.

One of the most significant moments of the afternoon was the formal turnover of hosting duties for NCAA South Season 28 to Philippine Christian University – Dasmariñas. Representatives shared their vision of creating another meaningful season that will continue to shape future leaders and champions.
