The march is on for the University of Batangas (UB) Sports Team. Right now, their hard work fuels their journey to compete in the Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) 2026.
Moreover, RAAM is more than just a thrilling contest; it serves as a venue for athletes to demonstrate real sportsmanship, made even more exciting when Batangas City hosts it.
In fact, they have built this positive trait throughout UB’s 80 years. As UB marks its 80th Founding Anniversary, the celebration goes far beyond the classroom. Specifically, this milestone proves that the university focuses on overall growth, not just academics.
Therefore, at the opening of RAAM 2026, UB proudly presents its student-athletes. They are ready to show their spirit and purpose to other CALABARZON delegates.

One of Brahmans’ Sports Pride: Strong Gymnasia
Ever heard of Brahmans? Coined by former Batangas Governor and former Board of Regents Chairman Vicente A. Mayo, that’s what the UB community calls its student-athletes.
In UB, a Brahman symbolizes the strength and determination of belonging to the UB community. They are always ready to face competitions head-on with grit and dedication, just like a Brahman.
Consequently, their dedication has come to fruition over UB’s 80 years, bringing countless sources of pride to the university. This achievement has been made possible through the university’s holistic mindset. UB’s point: it was about training students not only in laboratories but also in competitive gymnasiums.
As UB celebrates its 80th Founding Anniversary, “evolution” carries a deeper meaning. It also reflects the institution’s ability to sustain its upward progress and carve a path toward even greater heights. With this, UB believes that stronger student-athletes require equally strong and competitive training facilities. Thus, the construction of the Carmelo Q. Quizon Gymnasium and the Millennium Gymnasium.
This evolution continues as several RAAM 2026 competitions take place on UB grounds, welcoming student-athletes from across CALABARZON.

These gyms were built to transform UB into a hub for the region’s biggest sporting events.
OIC-Vice President for Student Affairs and Services and Sports Director Mr. Christopher V. Quizon has seen the vision. He saw these gymnasia as the crowning achievements of a decades-long journey.
“During our 80th Founding Anniversary, it’s a milestone to accommodate big events like RAAM,” Mr. Quizon shared. “It highlights how far we’ve come. It’s a sign that we are equipped to host sports events — no matter how big they are.”
From Athletes to Ath-Elites: UB’s ‘Fearless’ Spirit
The opening ceremony of RAAM 2026 was held on March 7, 2026. It featured a breathtaking showcase of cultural performances. UB Indayog Kultura performed alongside diverse cultural groups of Batangas City to showcase Batangas pride.

Before the stage gets competitive, the Brahmans look past the fire of competition — understanding that it is more than just about winning, but about the importance of being in a flow state no matter what the outcome is.
And that’s how you make ath-elites — elite athletes.
UB believes that student-athletes should be equally competitive and grounded — able to give their best while keeping their feet on the ground, and to go head-to-head with competitors while keeping their hearts in the right place.
For a long time now, UB — now celebrating its 80th Founding Anniversary — has developed its ath-elites in this way: trained to be competitive, shaped to remain grounded, and empowered to be fearless.
The UB Sports Legacy at 80
With the theme of UB’s 80th Founding Anniversary, “Celebrating Excellence, A Legacy of Greatness,” the institution has long established its name as a center for holistic development. In sports, UB has clinched countless medals over the past 80 years, marking a legacy of excellence.
Looking back at UB’s history, one word defines this era: “Fearless.” This spirit drove the university to invest in large gymnasia and athletic programs when others might have chosen to play it safe. Beyond the classroom, UB recognized the power of sports in shaping discipline, resilience, and character among its students.
Through competitive facilities and strong athletic programs, the university created spaces where student-athletes can train, compete, and grow as leaders. Over the years, this commitment has helped establish UB as a hub for athletic excellence in Batangas and the CALABARZON region, empowering its student-athletes to compete with confidence and uphold a legacy of excellence.
“We can see this characteristic when we started building our image as an athletic powerhouse,” Mr. Quizon declared. “We laid our foundation bricks fearlessly until we became known across Batangas. This applies not only to our academic goals but to sports as well.”
The Brahmans Carry 80 Years of Sports Pride to the Home Court
Hosting the Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) 2026 during the University of Batangas’ 80th Founding Anniversary is the perfect way to celebrate. By opening the doors of the Carmelo Q. Quizon Gymnasium and the Millennium Gymnasium to the whole CALABARZON region, UB proves it is a top school for both sports and student growth. The university doesn’t just watch history happen — it builds the places where history is made.
These big gymnasia show 80 years of progress. They prove that UB supports its students just as much in competitive sports as it does in the classroom.
When the Brahmans step onto their home courts for RAAM 2026, they are carrying more than just the pressure of a big tournament. They are carrying the great pride of UB’s 80-year history. Every sprint, every score, and every show of sportsmanship highlights the “Fearless” spirit that built the university. With this proud history behind them, the UB student-athletes aren’t just trying to win medals — they are defending 80 years of greatness, ready to show the whole region what true champions are made of.
