The road was never easy to be the best university in Batangas.
In honor of UB’s 80th Founding Anniversary, another realization hits the community: UB has never been beautiful in 80. Here’s what 80 looks like for UB.
Celebrating Eight Best Decades of the University of Batangas
The University of Batangas 80th Founding Anniversary marks a milestone of growth, dedication, and academic excellence for one of the most respected institutions in Batangas province. For eighty years, the University of Batangas (UB) has shaped futures, nurtured leaders, and contributed meaningfully to the community. From its beginnings in rented classrooms to its current status as a well-established university with modern facilities, the University of Batangas’ 80th Founding Anniversary reflects generations of students, alumni, faculty, and staff who have carried forward its mission of quality education. Thus, making the university one of the best universities in Batangas province.
On February 13, 2026, the UB Batangas City Campus and the streets of Batangas City came alive with gold-and-maroon banners, laughter, and celebration. The University of Batangas’ 80th Founding Anniversary brought together generations connected by one institution that has remained strong and committed to excellence for eight decades.
From Humble Beginnings to a Leading University
UB began with six founders who believed that quality education should be accessible to all Batangueños. Despite limited resources, they started a modest institution and adapted to challenges as enrollment grew. Over time, UB became the oldest university in Batangas province, consistently advancing its mission of academic excellence and community service.
Perhaps, it never came to them that the university will grow to be one of the best university in Batangas. All they ever wanted was to provide quality education.
In commemoration of their goal, UB also included UB 80th Founding Anniversary Booth Fair where colleges, departments, and student organizations displayed research, creative performances, and community programs. The event reflected not only school pride but also the dedication of students and faculty in continuing UB’s legacy.

Revisiting History Through the Motorcade
A highlight of the UB 80th Founding Anniversary Motorcade. Vehicles decorated in gold and maroon followed a figure-eight route across Batangas City, symbolizing continuity and growth. The convoy passed historic sites that shaped UB’s early years, including D. Silang Street and P. Burgos Street, Rizal Avenue, Plaza Mabini, and M.H. Del Pilar Street. Each stop represented UB’s transformation from temporary spaces into the best university in Batangas.
Alumni participation strengthened the emotional weight of the motorcade. Former and current officers of the University of Batangas Alumni Association, Inc. (UBAAI) joined the procession, proving that graduation marks a lifelong connection to the University. Their presence highlighted the ongoing influence of UB graduates in law, engineering, business, education, and public service.

Honoring Leadership and Shared Vision
The UB 80th Founding Anniversary Opening Program at the Vicente A. Mayo (VAM) Corporate Center and UB Arcade emphasized continuity and progress. Senior High School Principal Mr. Augusto Africa led the program at VAM, while Mr. Julius Ceazar D. Ayala and Ms. Kim Lorraine V. Malabanan hosted at the UB Western Hall. Their roles linked the 70th anniversary to the present celebration, highlighting the University’s ongoing journey.
During the program, President Hernandez-Bohn reflected on UB’s growth. She noted that founders may not have imagined the scale of the University today but acknowledged that each milestone is the result of collective effort. President Emeritus Perez emphasized that aging does not mean standing still; progress remains the priority. Similarly, Chairman of the Board of Regents Atty. Jesus V. Mayo praised the role of teamwork, discipline, and commitment in shaping UB’s legacy.
Symbols of Pride: Logo and Mascot
The official UB 80th Founding Anniversary logo was unveiled at the Vicente A. Mayo Corporate Center and the Western Hall, representing resilience, excellence, and dedication over eight decades. Brahmmy, the official UB mascot, energized the crowd, adding warmth and joy to the celebrations.

Looking Ahead After 80 Years
Reaching 80 years demonstrates strength, vision, and commitment. UB continues to innovate in education, expand learning opportunities, and prepare leaders for the future. The University of Batangas 80th Founding Anniversary does more than celebrate history—it reinforces a promise to future generations. From a small rented space to a respected institution, UB remains dedicated to rising and striving, shaping the best future for all.
