A celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and school pride as a new season begins.
NCAA South’s hosting duties return to the University of Batangas for an exciting new run. Stepping into the UB Millennium Gymnasium on January 30, 2026, felt like entering a living heartbeat of pride. Cheers and waving banners filled the air with electric energy.
As student-athletes, officials, and supporters gathered for the opening of NCAA South Season 27, there was a shared sense that something meaningful was beginning – not just another season, but another story of dreams, struggles, and triumphs waiting to unfold. With UB approaching its 80th Founding Anniversary, the moment felt even more special, reflecting the university’s commitment to shaping students beyond classrooms and textbooks.
The parade of athletes and officials stirred emotions as each delegation entered with confidence and grace. UB President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn’s message on honor and integrity resonated deeply. At the same time, guest speaker Shaina Nitura’s words on resilience and balance felt personal to many in the crowd.

“To my co-athletes, let our mind, heart, and body play as one for our school [or] kapag nasa puso natin ang ginagawa natin, our mind and body will follow, and our mind will never find it hard to do things that must be done.”- Ms. Shaina Nitura

When the UB Pep Squad led the war cry, the gym erupted with energy, uniting everyone in a single voice. The Oath of Sportsmanship, the lighting of the torch, and the official opening by Atty. Jesus V. Mayo became moments etched in memory – symbols of hope and commitment.
As the ceremony came to a close, there was a lingering feeling of excitement and gratitude in the air. More than just the start of a competition, the opening of NCAA South Season 27 reminded everyone why sports matter – to inspire, to connect, and to transform. For the UB community, it was a moment of pride and promise, a reminder that beyond every whistle and every game lies a deeper journey toward becoming stronger, wiser, and better, both on and off the court.
